A character concept for a game project. Kai is a bereaved mother who has travelled to the ends of the earth to rescue the soul of her deceased child. The intention was to create a relatable lead character who was strong in spirit, but not indestructible. She must battle bandits, religious extremists, spirits and the elements themselves in order to succeed and becomes battered, bruised and later hardened by the events of the game.
The intention with this design was to capture the enduring spirit of this character in her face. Kai is a woman who hass suffered so much at the hands of fate, but is determined not to give up. The attempt was to capture vulnerability as well as motivation.
Her design was intended to be a mix of multiple cultures. There are traces of Inuit, Tibettan, Native American and Saxon influences in her costume and look.
3D Models were intially built in Adobe fuse as a base and then expanded upon in Blender 3D.
