I've always had a huge love for the metal gear series, ever since a friend lent them to me back in secondary school! I have to say without a doubt though, that 1998's Metal Gear Solid for PlayStation 1, remains not just my favorite in the series, but my favorite video game of all time - as it does for many players.
I feel that MGS has monumentally influenced me as an artist and creative in general, so this project was incredibly theraputic and fun for me!
Intended to capture the style of movie poster designing legend Drew Struzan - this image was achieved by initially photobashing together different people and costumes to capture the likeness of MGS' characters and then was painted over to achieve the final painterly look you see in the final image. The palette was sampled using colours from the game itself, and Snake's face was based heavily on the codec illustration used in game.
Thrilled to finally show my love for this masterpiece! Happy sneaking!
